Our Story

How we met

We met on a sunny September evening at a mutual friend’s birthday drinks at the infamous King’s Arms pub in Wandsworth, London. Dill was, of course, wearing board shorts and a cap, while Gemma was, equally unsurprisingly, three G&Ts down by that point. The rest is history!

The years since

We started dating pretty much from the day we met and spent the next three years making some of our happiest memories in London, surrounded by our favourite people. There were endless summer braais, blurry nights at the Wandle, Lime bike rides and plenty of attempts at splitting the G.

In November 2025, we packed up our London lives and made the move back to Africa, finally moving in together in Nairobi, Kenya. Since then, we’ve made some wonderful friendships and found a home in a place that’s become very close to our hearts.

She said yes!

With the rolling plains of the Maasai Mara as a backdrop, Dill asked Gem to marry him. It was one of the happiest evenings of our lives, followed by plenty of popping bottles and celebrations!

Why the Mara?

Having grown up in Kenya, Dill has been visiting the Maasai Mara with his family since he was a little boy. His parents, Brett and Sue, fell in love with this beautiful corner of the Mara in the northern conservancies and, over the years, have built a home here that has become a very special place for the whole family.

As two people who have always loved the bush, it’s become our happy place too, and we couldn’t imagine anywhere more special to get married.
